Karen is a Career Coach for Byrd Career Consulting and also serves as an Assistant Director and a Career Coach at UNC Charlotte where she assists individuals through their career
development process. She coaches clients, students, and alumni by providing comprehensive
strategies and resources for career preparation.
Additionally, Karen has served as an adjunct
instructor for a Careers in Psychology course, where she has helped students to explore various
fields of psychology and prepares them for post graduate opportunities. She is also active in the
North Carolina Association of Colleges and Employers where she has served on executive and
conference committees. Karen has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Spanish as
well as a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and is certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator

Leveraging a background in journalism, Kimberly Sarmiento specializes in telling the "professional story" of job seekers through impactful and engaging resumes. She has worked with a wide-range of professionals and executives from around the globe, articulating their strengths, achievements, and unique value proposition in career management documents that include resumes, cover letters, biographies, LinkedIn summaries, and thank you letters.
In 2010, she earned her Certified Professional Resume Writer credential and has written several books, including two publications on career management. A Florida native, Kimberly attended the University of Florida where she completed her Bachelor’s in Journalism and Master’s in Political Science.

Latesha’s work is centered at the intersection of career empowerment and life visioning. Prior to launching Byrd Career Consulting, Latesha managed recruiting within the professional services industry supporting offices along the East Coast including Charlotte, New York, Jacksonville and Tampa, Florida. In her role, she developed innovative recruiting strategies and provided strategic guidance to leadership on how to attract, recruit and retain talent, and provide thought leadership on diversity & inclusion initiatives.
Latesha partners with professional organizations, nonprofits, universities and corporations to deliver keynotes and workshops centered around people engagement and upward mobility, and provides coaching, with a range of clients including Black Enterprise, United Negro College Fund, Wake Forest University and the Urban League. She’s also an Adjunct Faculty at North Carolina A&T State University. Latesha is a Certified Life and Career Coach.
